Crux of the Message
.
Here from the family of a fallen RCMP officer comes some insight into the problem of crime and the solutions needed.

“It is our duty as Canadians to stop and rethink how we are raising our children.”
“It is time to teach honor of our country.”
“It is time to care for our fellow man.”
“It is time to end the violence, stop the bullying on the play yards”
“Children who are raised with hopes and dreams and goals, not in houses filled with drugs and violence, will be better people.”
“It is time to take our liberal-minded attitude to task. Prime Minister Paul Martin, we depend on you and we expect you to change the laws and give the courts real power. Give the power back to the police.”
“Take the power from the Supreme Court and give it back to the House of Commons.”
“Brock knew that”
Brock Myrol, a Police officer, “KNEW THAT”, just as all other police officers, social workers, educators, and others who work with our children- “KNEW THAT”.
Headline -“Mountie murders should spur us to question our sick, me-first society”
“A far better option would be for all law-abiding citizens to demand their governments take a much tougher stand against the drug-pushers – and against others who show no love of this country or any respect for their fellow human beings.”
It makes me wonder when I read the very first statement issued by the BC Provincial government following the news of the four slain officers. They announce legislation that would allow the courts to seize assets gained through crime. Laudable legislation to be sure, but it is legislation that requires no new capital, does not in any way address the root causes of crime, and places the onus of administration back on the courts and police who are already taxed to the limit, and is virtually a repeat of legislation that is already on the books. This is purely Political Brownie Point tactics by a party on the eve of an election campaign.
Let us all draw our attention to four words taken from the Colleen Myrol statement:
‘DUTY’ ‘TEACH’ ‘CARE’ ‘RAISE’
These four words form the crux of the message from near all studies looking for solutions to the criminal activities plaguing our country. In the following pages we will discuss the cost of crime, the who of crime, the why of crime and suggestions to control crime and prevent much of crime from happening.
